At Akron-Canton Airport Fares Remain Low and Customer Experience High

Green, Ohio –Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) customers continue to pay less, on average, for airfare. In the recent second quarter 2015 Bureau of Transportation Statistics “Average Domestic Airfares” report, CAK was the lowest out of four airports in the region. Airfares at CAK fell 11 percent compared to the same quarter in 2014:

Airport*- Akron-Canton Airport (CAK)
Average Round-Trip Airfare Q2, 2015 - $322.46

Airport* -Cleveland Hopkins (CLE)
Average Round-Trip Airfare Q2, 2015 - $371.24

Airport* - Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
Average Round-Trip Airfare Q2, 2015 - $391.75

Airport*- Port Columbus (CMH)

“In addition to affordable airfares, we take pride in offering a relaxing customer experience unmatched by any nearby airport,” said Rick McQueen, president and CEO. “We know that our airfares aren’t always going to be the cheapest. We also know that the gap between our low fares and other airports will continue to narrow. What isn’t eroding is our commitment to customer care. It is what makes our customers check CAK time and again.”

In 2015, ultra-low cost Allegiant Air added five nonstop destinations at CAK. Now northeast Ohio travelers can enjoy super low fares and affordable vacation packages to Fort Lauderdale/Miami, Myrtle Beach, Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, St. Pete/Clearwater and Savannah/Hilton-Head. Plus American Airlines (LaGuardia) and United Airlines (Newark) added nonstop flights to the New York metropolitan area. Delta Airlines added additional flights or larger aircraft to Atlanta and Detroit. Four of five airlines are growing at CAK (although not quickly enough to offset the Southwest reductions that will take place in April of 2016).

In addition to low fares, CAK Customers also enjoy an unmatched airport experience. From free airport shuttles, to complimentary-wifi, shorter lines and less confusion, CAK offers an excellent airport experience – and it is getting even better. The airport is investing $14 million in customer enhancements. The two projects (announced in early 2015), a ticket wing upgrade and parking lot/entrance road redesign, will add up to an overall better customer experience positioning CAK for the future.
